Anusara

Anusara (a-nu-sar-a), means “flowing with Grace,” “going with the flow,” “following your heart.”, founded by an American, John Friend in 1997.

Ausara
Anusara is heart oriented, inspiring and yet grounded in Universal Principles of Alignment for both inner and outer body. It is a unique, therapeutic style of Hatha Yoga in which the artistic expression of the human heart blends magically with the scientific principles of biomechanics.

Currently, Anusara Yoga is one of the most popular and fastest growing yoga styles in the world.

Anusara Yoga's remarkable popularity is due in large part to its uplifting philosophy, epitomized by a "celebration of the heart," that looks for the good in all people and all things. Consequently, students of all levels of ability and yoga experience are honored for their unique differences, limitations, and talents.

Each class will have a different theme, centering around the Anusara method of Universal Principles of Alignment. Many times, the teacher will begin the class with an Anusara invocation, a beautiful spiritual song as a devotional recognition of the universal Spirit within and around us, and end with Savasana or meditation.

Flow
In this class, students flow from one posture to another, synchronizing breath and movement. The postures practiced in a regular Hatha class are "linked" into a sequence of movements that "flow" with the breath in a more vigorous series, little rest in between and creates a strong cardiovascular workout. All levels welcome. This class is inspired by Anusara style of yoga. In the intermediate level class, some advanced postures such as arm balancing, inversion, backbends, and handstands are introduced along with various modifications suggestions.
